Five Stars By Default

2010 was not a great year for the Server+ certification, with other CompTIA offerings getting far more attention from publishers and IT professionals alike. For those of us eager to - or required to - pass the SK0-003 exam, there are almost no study materials available. Enter PrepLogic.
This brief study guide reads more like a glossary than a textbook, offering concise summaries of most Server+ 2009 exam topics with emphasis placed more on technical specifications than on methodology or theory. This content is rounded out by some test-taking tips and twenty-five practice questions. While this "Cliffs Notes" approach does not exactly make for lively reading, it gets the job done.
Practicing technicians with significant server administration experience might be able to pass the exam using only this study guide. Candidates without this background will definitely need additional resources to learn and master this material but should still find this work useful as an "exam cram" or outline. Regardless of the reader's skill level, the brevity and price of PrepLogic's Exam Manual make it easy to recommend, even if the absence of alternatives did not insist upon it.

Not very useful

I just wrote the Server+ exam. This book wasn't very much help. The book doesn't cover a lot of the Server+ (2009) exam objectives. It appears to be sloppily put together based on the Server+ (2005) exam objectives. Case in point, the 2009 objectives have 6 domains and the 2005 objective have 7 domains. The table of contents in the book has 7 domains.
One is better off using Google to find answers for each of the 6 domains CompTIA expects you to know. That is what I did to pass the Server+ exam.

Better than having no other resources

The authors put the least amount of effort to write this...for lack better word, review. This is not a book, a mere 60 pages of 'stuff'. Preplogic peddles these "reviews" for $1 in their mass emails to attract customers for their video training. Not sure how much they paid the authors for their work to write this stuff, probably few bucks more than $1. I download their reviews for quick reviews before I take certification tests, and that's all they're good for. If you're looking to study for server+ exam as freshman, then I'd suggest to get a full fledged book rather than this quick review guide. If you're newcomer to IT industry, then I recommend get A+ cert first, then come around to server+.
